DAVE HUNT

Dreamworld facing $300,000 lawsuit over 'nightmare' ride

AN Indian cricketer is suing Dreamworld for almost $300,000, claiming his love of the game has been ruined after he was injured on a waterslide called 'The Wedgie'.

It's the first lawsuit against the theme park since last October's Thunder River Rapids ride tragedy, in which four tourists died.

Bikramjeet Singh Benipal, 29, has lodged a District Court claim against Dreamworld owners Ardent Leisure alleging he suffered knee ligament damage after being sent down the slide when he wasn't ready.

He claims he suffers nightmares and flashbacks and can't play his favourite sport, cricket, like he used to because of the injury.

Mr Benipal is claiming damages including $244,000 for future economic loss and $250 for supplies of Panadol and Deep Heat to relieve his pain.
