Dalby businesses stocking cannabis products
AS PUBLIC opinion softens towards cannabis, businesses in Dalby are embracing hemp-based products.
TSG Dalby owner John Pavey decided to stock Aussie Legends Hemp Oil after a request from a customer.
"It's our first time chasing it," Mr Pavey said.
"We have a lot of interest."
The product is made from oil extracted from cannabis seeds and consumers often use it to manage a variety of health problems.
Hemp oil is extracted from cannabis seeds and does not contain THC, which is the active ingredient in cannabis.
"It is grown specifically for this," Mr Pavey said about the hemp oil.
"The important thing for the community to remember is that two teaspoons isn't going to fix everything."
This product has only been in stock at TSG Dalby for three days but the word is spreading fast.
"It's all new to us.
"The interest on the Facebook page has been surprising."
Dalby Health Foods owner Tiomi Nickolls stocks more than 10 cannabis-based products in her store, ranging from oil to seeds and even body rubs.
"They're originally from the cannabis plant," she said.
"They breed a strain without THC."
Mrs Nickolls said the products have been in stock for many years but interest has started to increase.
"When I think back over, each owner always had so much of it.
"Hopefully soon we'll be able to stock CBD oil."
As the store does not hold a licence for selling and distributing medicinal marijuana, they strictly stick to hemp-based products.
"It is a little bit harder for us but we need the licence," Mrs Nickolls said.
"Over time, they're making it easier to stock."
She said the community is aware of the nature of the hemp-based products.
