Cods hold on to win by one point against Warwick

UNION: A thrilling final 15 minutes had the Condamine Cods B Grade side hang on against the Warwick Water Rats for a 15-14 victory at the Fish Tank on Saturday.

Solid defence prevented the Water Rats from slipping over the line, ensuring the Cods’ three unconverted tries was enough to come away from the miserable, wet and windy conditions with a win.

Coach Scott Attwooll said that while it wasn’t the most entertaining game to watch, it was good to see the boys improving.

“We were very tied-up in the forwards and when our backs did get the ball they did make ground but just couldn’t finish it off,” Attwooll said.

Thanks went to Chinchilla River Rats players Matt Townsend and Justin Travers for strapping on the boots on the day, as well as a couple of Cods A-Graders.

Attwooll said the Cods would be looking at a totally different game this week when they shape up against Dalby in Dalby.
