Coast day care evacuated as fire breaks out

UPDATE 12:40PM: Firefighters have left a Coast day care, after making the area safe following a fire earlier today.

Emergency crews were called to Bambini Day Care, Caloundra West, at 10.30am this morning mid reports of a fire.

The centre was evacuated, with the fire extinguished just after 11am.

Fire crews investigated and declared all areas safe, before handing the site back to the owners at 12.30pm.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said no patients had been treated or transported due to the fire, but they were on scene as a precaution.

UPDATE 11:07AM:  Fire crews are currently at the scene of a fire that has broken out at Coast day centre.

Caloundra West's Bambini Day Care has been evacuated after a fire broke out on a stovetop in the kitchen.

Emergency crews were called at 10.30am and are currently on scene.

Three fire crews are on site. Power to the centre has been isolated while firefighters, who have donned breathing masks, investigate the Lomond Street address.

Paramedics are also on stand-by. 

EARLIER: 10.41AM: A FIRE has broken out in a Sunshine Coast day care centre.

Emergency crews are rushing to Caloundra West, where a day care facility has been evacuated after the kitchen caught on fire.

Two firefighting crews were alerted at 10.30am, and are currently rushing to the Lomond St facility.

Paramedics and police are also en route to Bambini Day Care.
