Clive Palmer wants $1.2b from Qld Nickel consultants

OUTGOING Sunshine Coast politician and magnate Clive Palmer is vowing to sue the firm currently looking after his failed Queensland Nickel business for $1.2 billion.

In a statement released on Tuesday morning, Mr Palmer said FTI consulting and administrator John Park were "aiding and abetting a breach of trust" and had breached the Queensland Nickel Joint Venture Agreement.

Mr Palmer claims Mr Park may have broken the law in his handling of the nickel firm.

He said the north Queensland refinery would still be operating if Mr Park had not "sacked everyone".

FTI Consulting delivered a damning report into Mr Palmer's operation in April, appointing liquidators to chase down $200 million in debts arising from the failed business.

Mr Park told creditors and workers at the time it was "now time to start to chase the money".

The closure of the refinery cost the jobs of 787 workers.

The final payments for many of these workers -- thought to be worth $74 million -- has begun to arrive after their requests to the Fair Entitlements Guarantee scheme were approved.

Queensland Nickel was put into voluntary administration in January, days after 237 workers were sacked.
