Charlie milks the Ekka for loads of hugs

CHARLIE has to be the cutest most well-behaved two-year-old to pass through the Ekka gates this week.

The Bells Creek youngster - and his proud mum Yasmin Brisbane - are teaching city slickers the fine art of camel dairying.

This is Charlie's first time at the Royal Queensland Show and NewsRegional can report the popular beast of burden hasn't found any humps in the road yet.

Ms Brisbane's family owns the QCamel dairy in the Glass House Mountains.

She is spending most of her time explaining to animal lovers about the benefits of camel milk products and the upsides of owning a "gentle beautiful” dromedary.

"He's just a big smoocher and he loves cuddles,” Ms Brisbane said.

"He's great with people.

"It only took us about 10 days to train him for the Ekka.”

Ms Brisbane said she brought Charlie to the Ekka to teach others about the breed and to reach new markets for the business's products.

"What's really great is that we get to de-bunk myths about camels and people realise how beautiful they are,” she said.

"We also run a tourism venture at the dairy so we get quite a lot of people who come to the farm from the Ekka and it's good marketing for the milk.”
