A CAR has crashed into trees around 7km north east of Chinchilla.

The incident occurred around 11.20am when a 68-year-old woman who was travelling south west on Chinchilla Wondai road veered across the road and hit a tree.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Chinchilla Hospital with minor bruising and to be assessed for other possible injuries.

Chinchilla Police Station Senior Constable Nigel Hart said police attended Chinchilla Hospital shortly after the accident where they issued the woman with an infringement for failing to maintain proper control of her vehicle.

"We don't know what the cause of it was but she hit the tree with enough force to do a 180 in the air; there was a fair amount of damage, she was very lucky she didn't do more damage,” he said.
