Brigalow-Chinchilla roadworks delayed again
THE completion of the Chinchilla to Brigalow roadworks on the Warrego Highway has been delayed again.
In February, a Department of Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said the project would be finished by March.
A DTMR spokesperson blamed the latest setback on March's "wet weather” and said the works would be completed by April, weather permitting.
The project, being undertaken by contractor Ostwald Brothers, was originally meant to take nine months.
With the latest delay, it has become an 18-month ordeal for commuters.
Transport and Main Roads has continually responded to questions from the Chinchilla News, blaming "wet weather” for the delays.
But the Chinchilla News revealed in December 2016 that there were also problems with the foam bitumen used to seal the road, something the department had refused to admit over the course of three months of inquiries.
