Details emerge about tragic death of Yeppoon man in freak accident

9.10am: A 26-year-old Yeppoon man died  in a freak towing accident yesterday.

The cause of the accident was revealed last night after initial police investigation.

Police said about 5.15pm a vehicle was towing another vehicle on the beach near Hinz Avenue, Bangalee, north of Yeppoon, when the towing strap has given way and struck the man who was driving the lead vehicle. 

No one else was injured in the incident.

Investigations are continuing.  

6pm: A 26-YEAR-OLD man is believed to have died on the scene after a single vehicle accident on a beach near Bangalee, north of Yeppoon.

The accident happened this evening at about 5.15pm though the cause is not known.

A police spokesman said authorities are still on the scene.
