SUNSHINE Coast entrepreneur Shane Nettleton is getting set to take on the world with his premium alcohol range.
Mr Nettleton along with mates Dave Nelson and Marko Pavasovic became overnight success stories last year with the launch of their "healthier" low-sugar, electrolyte-packed Vodka Plus, attracting orders from across the globe. Now they're set to expand on their burgeoning empire with a new bottled espresso martini.
The trio is currently in talks with a major US alcohol distributor to launch the Bondi Espresso Martini and Vodka Plus products in the American summer through home delivery services such as Amazon.
They are also in final discussions with a major Australian retailer for the coffee drink, which is currently only sold online, to be stocked in around 600 bottle shops nationally from early in the new financial year.
"We saw a lot of people drinking espresso martinis out in the market and what we noticed is when you go from place to place or even with the same place, the product can be quite different and isn't always great," Mr Nettleton said.
"When you're paying $20 for a drink you want it to be good, so we saw a bit of a gap in the market for a consistent, well-priced product."
Despite being based in Queensland, the friends recently set up an on office in Bondi and decided to name the new drink after the iconic Sydney beach suburb to appeal to the overseas market.
The move worked, with interest outside Oz booming.
Although the new caffeinated beverage is not as "diet friendly" as their Vodka Plus range, Mr Nettleton believed the cocktail would be even more popular than their original drinks.
"I think given the price point people can purchase it at ($27 for four 130ml bottles) I think it's got more legs than the Vodka Plus range. I reckon we'll be doing over 10,000 units a month," he said, with bars and clubs particularly interested in it for its time and cost saving potential.
Mr Nettleton's company has already been valued at $3 million, and this is expected to at least double with the launch of Bondi Espresso Martini.
"The last 12 months have been something we didn't think could happen so quickly," Mr Nettleton said.
"With the Bondi Espresso getting some serious traction both here and overseas, I think it's going to be a very interesting end of the year and exciting 2018."
