How Australia's largest family does Christmas with 16 kids
AUSTRALIA'S largest family has been recruited by PlayStation Australia to find out how they keep entertained with one device.
Toowoomba family the Bonells will have more fun at Christmas this year with the new PlayStation 4 bringing them together.
With 16 children Christmas is always a hectic time for Jeni and Ray Bonell. However Mrs Bonell masters the festive season with her top organisation skills.
"For us, it's just one big birthday party for Jesus," she said.
"People can get caught up with the materialisation of it but it's all about celebrating our faith and coming together with family.
"We've found the PS4 (PlayStation) has brought us together in unexpected ways."
Mrs Bonell said one of her children's favourite games was Little Big Planet because they could all play together.
"Before we had a PS4 I didn't know you could use it to stream so much entertainment, so it has definitely helped us keep everybody entertained in our big brood," she said.
"We love streaming movies and TV shows together, while some of our older kids like to take time out for gaming."
PlayStation Australia recruited the family to assist with its new research that uncovered how Australian parents kept the family entertained. The study found 74 per cent of parents get their entertainment fix through streamed movie and TV content.
The research also revealed streaming home entertainment helped Australian families spend time together, with one in five parents watching their favourite streamed TV shows together as a family.
Mrs Bonell said the virtual reality headset was a highlight.
"We've just been having wholesome fun and the thing that really blew us away is the headset - it's unbelievable how realistic it is," she said.
"I love to watch dad in the headset and watching the kids play the game with him on the controllers."
Ray Bonell said in a family of 18, the universal remote control was a "prized possession".
"After a long day, sometimes there is nothing better than all of us squeezing on the couch and enjoying a documentary or TV series together," he said.
