Attempted murder charges after mattress lit on fire

DETECTIVES have charged a man following the investigation of a house fire at Durack this morning.

It will be alleged at around 6am three men, who are known to each other, had a disagreement at a two storey residence in Ronson Street.

At about 11.00am one of the men has been downstairs and allegedly set alight to a mattress before leaving the house and waiting in the back yard.

One of the men upstairs smelt smoke and woke up the other man and they both ran out of the house.

Smoke was observed by the neighbours and emergency crews attended and extinguished the fire.

A 28-year-old Durack man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of endangering particular property by fire.

He is due to appear at the Richlands Magistrates Court tomorrow, May 16.
