Wlodarczyk becomes first woman to hammer throw beyond 80m

CHAMPION Polish hammer thrower Anita Wlodarczyk became the first female athlete to break the 80-metre barrier, when setting a new world record of 81.08m in an event in her home country.

The 29-year-old (pictured) had set the previous record of 79.58m in Berlin in August, 2014.
