Art weekend to take attendees 'along the garden path'

THE Drillham State School P&C is set to celebrate creativity with a trip 'Along the Garden Path'.

Eight talented art tutors will descend on Miles from March 2-3 for a weekend of art workshops designed to immerse everyone from advanced artists to absolute beginners. P&C member Ondine Parkinson said the idea came about after she attended a similar weekend in the Maranoa district.

"It was just fabulous, so I thought 'well, this is something we can really do in our community',” she said.

Along the Garden Path will give attendees the chance not only to learn some creative skills but, in Mrs Parkinson's words, to get together and have a laugh.

Mrs Parkinson said the opportunity for fun was crucial to provide as ongoing drought battered the region.

"They just want an outing that's exciting for them and that's different, and I think that sense of achievement is what people need when things aren't going so well.”
