Adele concert tours are no more: Star quits life on the road

ADELE has no problems saying hello, but when it comes to goodbyes the superstar clearly finds it a whole lot harder.

The singer made a bombshell return to the stage at Wembley Stadium tonight as she confirmed the worst - she has decided to hang up her touring boots and take a break from the road - potentially forever, The Sun reports.

Delivering the heartbreaking news to her record-breaking crowd of 98,000 in a handwritten note buried inside her program, she wrote: "So this is it after 15 months on the road and 18 months of 25 we are at the end.

"Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn't suit me particularly well. I'm a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things. Plus, I'm dramatic and have a terrible history of touring. Until now that is!

"I've done 119 shows and these last 4 will take me up to 123, it has been hard out an absolute thrill and pleasure to have done.

"I only ever did this tour for you and to hopefully have an impact on you the way that some of my favourite artists have had on me live.

"And I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don't know if I'll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home.

"Thank you for coming, for all of your ridiculous love and kindness. I will remember all of this for the rest of my life. Love you. Goodnight for now."

The Sun reported last year how Adele - who tonight made history by beating U2's Wembley crowd of 92,000 - had hinted she would throw her touring towel in after being struck by crippling stage fright combined with her desire to be a full time mum to son Angelo.

And the Brit star made the most of her final farewell by making an emotional plea to ask fans to donate money to the Grenfell Tower victims as she kicked the first of her four huge sold-out shows in London.

Before flashing up images of the Grenwell Tower remains at the end of her performance of Hometown Glory, she said: "I want to talk to you about Grenfell Tower because it's been two weeks now since the fire, and still people who were affected by it are homeless, they have no possessions, they have no access to or communication with anyone official from the government or council, and worst of all they're now starting to feel like they're a burden and that they're getting in the way.

"Listen, a glass of wine here costs more than what I'm asking you to donate.

"Prices are extortionate here.

"So rather than wasting your money on that last glass that tips you over the edge and wipes your memory of the show tonight, donate it instead.

"I love you, see you later, wish me luck, I'm sh**ting myself."

Adele visited victims the day after the inferno swept through the London apartment block earlier this month, killing 80 people.

She has since paid tribute to the fire service and performed at a local primary school.

Adele also had a laugh on stage, admitting she couldn't wait for the tour to end.

She said: "It's been amazing but it's been really f***ing hard work.

"Don't get me wrong, you should have to work hard for the things you get in life but I mean, I just want to eat takeaways and drink white wine.

"But clearly I can't do that because I can't even fit into my f***ing tour dress if I do that."

And on her plans for after the tour, she added: "I'm gonna smoke some fags, I'm gonna have some whiskey.

"I can't f***ing wait."
