Accused strangler to remain in custody

A MAN accused of strangling his partner with an electrical cord and threatening her with knives will remain in custody at least until September.

The 70-year-old Caloundra West man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his alleged victim, did not apply for bail when the matter came before Maroochydore Magistrates Court yesterday.

He faces charges of assault occasioning bodily harm as a domestic violence offence, choking as a domestic violence offence and contravening a domestic violence order.

The matter was adjourned until September 15.
