Accused snapchat teacher back before court

A TOOWOOMBA high school teacher accused of sending sexually explicit messages to an underage girl student via social media Snapchat has had charges against him mentioned before the city's District Court.

The 36-year-old teacher, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has not as yet been required to enter any pleas to the charges which include two counts of "indecent treatment of a child under 16 (indecent film etc.)" as the charges appeared on the court list.

Police claim the man sent indecent Snapchat images to a 15-year-old female student at the school which also cannot be named for legal reasons.

No details of the case have as yet been aired in court.

During a brief mention of the matter during a call over of cases on the first day of this month's Toowoomba District Court sittings, the man's case was adjourned by Judge Tony Rafter SC to the next call over of cases next month.

The accused man remains on bail pending what is expected to be a trial.
