80-year-old killed after metal from truck hits his car

Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred last night at Burbank.

Initial investigations suggest that at around 8.45pm, a truck was travelling on Mount Cotton Road when a piece of metal attached to the truck's trailer struck a car that was travelling in the opposite direction.

The car then left the road and came to rest down an embankment.

The driver of the car, an 80-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
