This morning was like any other for an unnamed Dalby man, before he discovered he won last week's first division Powerball.

The unregistered ticket from last Thursday had not being claimed until today.

The Dalby man, who wished to remain anonymous, said he could not believe his luck.

"Yeah, nah, that's pretty good. I didn't have a clue. I hadn't heard there'd been a win in town," he said.

"I can't get my head around it.

"I just came in to buy the paper and buy a ticket for (the next) Powerball draw."

The winning ticket was purchased at the Dalby Newsagency in Cunningham St with the winning numbers 7, 10,12, 23, 33, 38 and the Powerball 16.

He said he only plays Powerball and the winning numbers he has been using for six weeks.

The winner said he would continue to work, like he has his entire life, as he considered what to do with his winnings.

"I'll pay the house off, go from there and think about it after," he said.

"But I'll definitely have a spring in my step today and be celebrating."

Newsagency manager Malene Price said yesterday was a very exciting morning.

"When I took his ticket and realised it was the winner I got straight onto Golden Casket," she said.

"I was excited, he was excited but I think in shock. It was very special."
