OUTAGE: Power cut to huge part of southwest Queensland
Update: Power is back on to the thousands of customers affected, with crews suspecting the outage may have been caused by lightning from storms in the area.
Earlier: Thousands of customers are currently without power between Roma and St George, after an outage occurred at 1.40pm today.
Principal Corporate Communications Advisor for Ergon Energy, Brett Judge said while crews are currently out patrolling the line to determine the fault, there is no estimated time for when power will be restored to the 2762 customers.
"There's 200km of line they are looking at but no indication to where the fault is at the moment," he said.
"It looks like the whole of St George has been affected as well as other parts of Balonne, Cunnamulla, Mitchell and Surat.
"The crews are very aware of the problem and have been out for an hour trying to find the fault."
