The Jim Baker Medal

Greg Shaw, President

The Rotary Club of Roma invites applications for The Jim Baker Medal for Vocational Service Merit in our Community. Dr Jim Baker, a Roma Rotarian, was the creator of Queensland's flying obstetrician/gynaecologist service and revolutionised the delivery of health services in rural Queensland. He was also a founding and life member of the Livestock Transport Association of Queensland. Jim had a particular interest in a high level of vocational service, both as an ideal and as a working ethic. “Vocational Service” is serving others through the workplace, aspiring to achieve high ethical standards, aiming to share skills and expertise through vocations and inspiring others in the process. Please nominate someone in the region who in your opinion has displayed qualities worthy of such an award. Nominations are open to the public. Nominees can come from any field of employment- professional, trade, sales or service. Employers are particularly encouraged to propose one or more of their employees for the award. Successful nominees will receive their awards at the Maranoa Business Awards Dinner to be held at Roma Explorers Inn on Saturday 13th October 2018. To propose a candidate, please contact the President, Roma Rotary, for an application form to be returned not later than Friday 28th September 2018, the closing date for nominations. Enquiries to: Greg Shaw, President ( 0418 873... ) or The Rotary Club of Roma lnc.
