VALERIE Shaw can't remember the last time her dams were as full as they are now.

After a downpour of rain around the region last week, Mrs Shaw's property received 105mm, just the perfect amount to fill her dam and have the creeks flowing again.

Just days before the rain, Mrs Shaw said the grass would "crumple under your feet" when it was walked on.

Now, it's hard to believe that was the case just more than a week ago, as much of the property is green and alive again.

The property, situated just six kilometres out of town, seemed to cop the brunt of last week's storm, as only 11mm fell in town.

"It was an unreal sight when I headed home from work that afternoon," Mrs Shaw said.

As Mrs Shaw was driving back home, she said the puddles started to get bigger and bigger.

"Once I reached our neighbours property and saw much of their property under water, I just couldn't believe it."

When she arrived home, her son Hayden told her the news that more than 100mm had fallen within a matter of hours.

"It was God's early Christmas present for us.

"Like many, we needed that rain."

The Terowie property is now greener than it has been in a "long while", much to the family's delight.

The Bureau of Meteorology predicts a few showers and storms to hit the region this weekend.
